Another amazing episode last week but I was heartbroken to find that the MLB playoffs will take the shows spot for the next month...at this point I'm completely lost on what I will do every thursday night for my hour of devotion now - looks like those dvd's of season's one and two are going to come in handy after all. Anyway, here's a wrap up of last week's episode:
Marissa has her first day at the public school, Newport Union,

of course she immediately runs into trouble, literally, running into tough girl, Heather. Marissa is just about to find herself in some serious trouble when another girl steps in, Casey whom slowly becomes Marissa's ticket to friendship at Newport Union. She then meets Casey's boyfriend Johnny and his friend Dennis. Dennis immediately reminded me of Seth, whether's its his goofy appereances, witty lines or maybe the fact that he wants to be called Chili?? Anyway, Marissa thinks that maybe this is her chance to get a clean slate and when they ask her to get lunch with them she calls Ryan and explains that she really needs to do this, and once again selfless Ryan watches her leave with her new crew, fighting his feelings the whole time.
Before leaving to pick up Marissa, Sandy and Ryan are discussing Ryan's new home-schooling plans when Ryan explains that he wants to actually go to Newport Union, perhaps to watch after Marissa. Sandy immediately shoots down this plan and tells Ryan that he needs to focus on himself and college, not just Marissa all the time.
Marissa comes home just after the foreclosure agent leaves Julie explaining that the house is being seized and she has 48 hours to leave. Julie tries to cover up and tells Marissa there was a mix up but Marissa catches her in her own games and agrees to move in with Summer for a few days at least until they can get back on their feet together.

Summer is busy back at Harbor preparing for the next school dance when the one and only Taylor approaches and asks how she could help. Summer is not only in shock, but startled when Taylor continues stating that she just wants to have friends at Harbor and is sorry that she can be such a pain in the butt. At this point it was pretty obvious to me that Taylor only had bad intentions, I'm just surprised that Summer actually fell for it all. But anyway, this scheme continues into the next day when somehow Taylor convinces Summer that she must fess up to helping Seth steal the tiki-hut or the Dean will suspend Seth altogether. Summer immediatly confesses to the Dean who responds that with this on her record, Summer could never proceed as Social Chair, but who would replace her...oh of course Taylor Townsend.
In the bussel of Marissa's new life, she blows off Ryan's breakfast date of the diner and we see him eating alone. Then later that day Marissa's friends try to convince her to attend the school dance with them, but she explains that she has plans with her boyfriend (finally remembering he exists) and can't go. On her way out of school, Heather reappears and makes a snide comment about the shooting, leaving Marissa humiliated and she runs away in tears. Johnny follows her and tries to cheer her up, but his flirtatious gestures leave Ryan unsettled and he runs to her rescue, just to embarrass her again. The next day he calls to apologize and asks her to the movies that night, she says that she is just going to try to have a relaxed night and catch up on some work, but she would call him later - is another disappointment brewing??
At the Cohen's, Kirsten receives a bushel of flowers from Charlotte, and calls to thank her. Charlotte begins to explain how the lake house is not the same without her and she misses her dearly. They agree to meet for lunch at the Harbor club, when Charlotte will be in Newport (coincidence??...i think not). When she hangs up we find that she is in a sleazy motel with her boyfriend as they discuss ways to swindle money from the Cohen family. Sandy explains to Kirsten that the Newport Group is failing and that the best decision may be to sell before it is too late. After alot of contemplating, Kirsten agrees that it is time to put her past behind her. At lunch with Charlotte, Charlotte wastes no time to explain her new business proposition: A place where women can go between rehab and returning home, something like the lake house for people in their position, and who better to fund the idea than Kirsten and the Newport Group! Charlotte is shocked to find that Kirsten was left no money and is actually going to close the Newport Group, and again tries to convince Kirsten that closing up shop won't free her of the past and her father.
As Julie is getting another visit from the foreclosure, this time with movers right behind him, at Summer's, Marissa's new friends show up to take her to the school dance. Without much hesitation, she agrees to go but just as they are getting in the car Seth and Ryan show up to surprise the girls. After some brief explanations, Marissa goes to her school dance and Summer and Seth hed to the harbor school dance, leaving Ryan home alone.
At Harbor, Taylor is taking all the credit for Summer's ideas and work and Seth decides to call Ryan to maybe convince him to go after Marissa? Ryan speeds over to Newport Union to find Marissa having a great time laughing with her new friends, Seth right behind him to stop him from anything he might have been thinking about doing. While Summer is looking for Seth around school, she catches Taylor and the dean in a makeout session in the stairwell. Probably the best blackmail Summer could find on these two!
Ryan goes back home, exhausted from the night and giving up the fight to find Marissa waiting for him in his room and they turn on the radio to dance together to their new song...
